隨車吊租賃設備的制動器的工作實質是通過摩擦副將切斷動力的運動件的慣性動能轉化為摩擦熱能消耗，從而產生制動作用。其結構特點是.形成摩擦副中的一部分與固定構件相連.另一部分與被制動的機構轉動軸相連，當摩擦副接觸壓緊時，產生制動作用.機構工作停止;當摩擦副分離時，制動作用解除，機構可以正常工作。制動器主要有以下功能:

1.支持作用

在起升機構，保持吊重睜止在空中;在變幅機構中，將臂架維持在一定位置保持不動;對室外軌道起重機起防風抗滑的作用。

2.停止作用

使機構的運動迅速在一定時間或一定行程內停止。

3.落重作用

將制動力與重力平衡，使運動體以穩定的速度下降。
