Thengai(coconut) sadham - Ingredients:

Rice,long grained 1 cup.
Coconut grated 1/2
Cashew nut/peanuts fried in 1 tbsp of oil.
Refined oil 2 tbsp.
Mustard seeds 1/4 tbsp.
Bengal gram 1 tbsp.
Ginger 1'' finely chopped 1
Green chilly slit 2
Curry leaves a few leaves.
Salt to taste.
Asafoetida a pinch.


Thengai(coconut) sadham - Directions:
  1. Cook the rice and spread it on a plate to cool.

  2. Mix 1 tbsp of oil with rice.

  3. Dry roast the coconut till reddish brown and keep aside.

  4. Heat oil in pan and saute mustard seed till they start crackling.

  5. Add bengal gram till they turn golden.Add ginger ,green chilies;saute for a minute.Add the curry leaves.

  6. Mix in the rice ,salt asafoetida and coconut.

  7. Serve hot with garnished with nuts.
